Well not a 100% sure the headline is true. Just read that the Popeye character has gone copyright free as of the new year. You MAY be able to open up a chicken franchise with the character and not pay any royalties.
According to the author of the article; the copyright is still valid in the USA till 2024, but the EU expiry is now.
This could be a very interesting business opportunity to create wealth. It is a world recognizable character for many many years. Someone could create tshirts, caps, and toys.
What I think would be a great product and frankly dont know why I have not seen it anywhere....> Popeye branded spinach in the grocery store.
On a related note, how many of you have seen the Wimpy chain of burgers in London ? Great idea. " I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today " he used to say.
